An 18-year-old youth lost his leg to the police; What is an inhuman event?
LUCKNOW: An 18-year-old vegetable vendor lost his legs after being hit by a train on Friday.
The mishap took place when the police threw it on the railway track and tried to pick it up.
A vegetable vendor's weighing scale was thrown by the police on the pretext of clearance near the railway station in Kanpur town of Uttar Pradesh.
Arsalan, a resident of Sahib Nagar in Kalyanpur area of Kanpur, was selling vegetables on the side of GT Road when two policemen approached him, eyewitnesses said. According to eyewitnesses, Head Constable Rakesh threw the weighing scales on the tracks after the two beat up Arsalan.
Arsal went down to the railway track to remove the weight scale thrown by the police and the train ran over him, which amputated his legs.
In a video recorded by a local, an 18-year-old youth can be seen lying on the tracks.
Head Constable Rakesh behaved irresponsibly while the police were clearing an encroachment near GT Road on Friday and Arsal hit the train. Rakesh Kumar has been suspended immediately and we will investigate the matter.
Police are also collecting videos of the incident made by eyewitnesses, Kanpur senior police officer Vijay Dhul said in a statement.
