Supreme Court notice to Center to take action against those spreading anti-Muslim hatred

New Delhi: Taking up the hearing of a petition seeking urgent intervention to prevent the targeting and terrorizing of the Muslim community in India, the Supreme Court has issued
In this regard, Shaheen Abdullah had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Indian and state governments to conduct an independent, credible and impartial investigation into hate speech and hate speech.
The petitioners have requested that appropriate action be directed under the UAPA Act and other IPC Acts against the speakers and organizations involved in such hate crime against Muslims.
A petition pending before a bench headed by Justice KM Joseph regarding hate speech has also been tagged, media reports said.
Senior Supreme Court advocate Kapil Sibal argued that something needs to be done and some action should be taken against those who spread hate.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court pointed out that the points mentioned in the petition were unclear. Justices Ajay Rastogi and C.T. A bench comprising Ravikumar said that information can be obtained about the facts recorded in the FIR.
