Assaulted for overtaking, distraught Dalit youth commits suicide

Mulbagil: An incident of a Dalit youth being tied to a tree and beaten to death has been reported from Bevahalli village of Mulbagil, Kolar.

Uday Kiran is a young man who committed suicide and a case has been registered against four people in Nangali police station in this connection.

It is alleged that Uday Kiran of Bevahalli overtook the two-wheeler belonging to Raju of Petandlahalli village, and that Raju obstructed him and assaulted him. In addition, it is said that Uday's bike and mobile phone were stolen.

Later he went to ask for the vehicle and mobile phone

It is said that Uday Kiran was tied to a tree by Raju and his associates in Petandlahalli village and assaulted with caste abuse.

 It is known that Uday committed suicide because he could not bear the shame.

In connection with the incident, the police registered a case under the Prevention of Dalit Atrocities Act against Raju, Shivraj, Gopalakrishnappa and Munivenkattapa belonging to the upper caste of Petandlahalli village and started investigation.
